Friendsgiving
Last Friday I hijacked my parents’ house and hosted a Friendsgiving for people in my Masters program. It was outstanding.
There was only one hiccup! I was making my very first turkey. I ordered a fresh, local one from one of my favorite places in town, Goose the Market. When I got it home, it still had the neck on!! I was mildly concerned because, if the neck was still on, was everything in side still in tact?!? What do I do about this??? I tried YouTube and only got exercises that claimed to make your neck slimmer. Google only revealed plastic surgeons that could do neck lifts! So I called the Butterball hotline in a panic. Luckily, the very helpful woman told me i could just leave it attached! So I tucked it inside the cavity and attempted to cover it with skin. It ended up looking a little bit like my turkey was birthing another turkey…

All in all, it came out lovely! With the help of Chow Tips, I figured out how to get it cooked through before my guests came. It was the best first Friendsgiving a person could have!
Here is my finished turkey!

And after all that, I needed Sunday to recover. Good thing my pup was in a cuddly mood!
